More Lunar New Year East Coast trip

Li-Wen looking at the view from the Boat House Home Stay.
There is a mountain view and an ocean view. As I ask my students, which is the mountain and which is the other?
Humm here is the mountain. The Boat B&B is set between the mountain and the ocean. It's really perfect. We're looking for land to buy like this.

This place reminds me of Hawaii although the price doesen't. Our landlords are aborigial Taiwanese. The father plays guitar. We ordered dinner for $200 NTD each (about $7 US. )
It was really good.

Leaving Changhua on the 5:50am train. Five hours later we arrive in Hualian. In a couple of hours we'll catch a bus south.

View from the Hualian train station.

On the bus South to the Boat House, "Home Stay," another name for a bed and breakfast.

I love your blog Gerry. It is so heart felt and real. The pictures are really wonderful and make it all come to life. It chronicals so much of all you have learned and respect about the culture that is foreign to you. Your efforts are great and appreciated!

Hi, I was searching for B&B in Taiwan and came across your blog.I must say that your life in Taiwan as a teacher sounds really interesting. Anyway, is there a reliable way of searching for B&B in Taiwan? My friends and I like to experience the authentic "Taiwanese" culture and lifestyle. Hope you can give us some tips! Thanks

Hi Gerald,

I met you and your wife today (New Year's Day '09) in McDonald's. You told me about the "Boathouse" B&B on the east coast, so I "Googled" it and hit your blog. It was nice to meet you and your wife and I've enjoyed reading about your life here and looking at your nice photos. Hope to run in to you again sometime. I'll take a peek at your blog now & then.

Bye now,
Dan Watson
